What will you do today, that will matter tomorrow?

The Treasures of the Community auctions have been going strong for 16 years, and have raised over $350,000! The auction raises funds for the annual La Romana Mission in the Dominican Republic that provides vital medical support; the In Our Hour of Need Family Shelter (IHN) that works with homeless families in the Worcester area; and The First Church in Sterling that provides a wide variety of programs such as Community Lunches and Pizza Church.

La Romana Mission

In the Dominican Republic, there are over 160 remote villages in the sugarcane fields where families live in abject poverty, with little access to clean water, electricity, education, and medical care. Our life-changing spring trip brings medical care, healthcare information, construction support, and as importantly, a belief that people care about them.

IHN Shelter

It’s hard for us to imagine not having a roof over our heads, yet this is the reality for over half a million Americans. It’s even harder to imagine not having shelter with your children at your side. IHN provides temporary shelter to families with children so that these families can improve their financial foundation and find permanent housing.

First Church

Because of the miracles of modern technology, many of us live most of our lives in a disconnected, virtual reality. Yet we long for deep connections. First Church is a real time, real touch, real life place of belonging where peace reigns, where prayer and uplift are the languages spoken, and where empathy and understanding are the values stressed. All are welcome!

Today, we ask you to help us make tomorrow matter, so that…

  • Hundreds of impoverished adults and children living in the sugar cane field villages of the Dominican Republic will receive medical, dental and eye care right at their village.
  • Hundreds of families will find temporary shelter in IHN ‘s Worcester house, enabling the families to save money toward a place to call their own—a hand up, not a handout.
  • Thousands of people will continue to visit the First Church for community events, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, family gatherings, theater presentations, and more, as they have for generations.

Our 2023 Auction

We held our 2023 auction in May, and raised over $20,000, so a big THANK YOU to our donors and bidders. Thank you for your continued love and support.

We haven’t scheduled our 2024 auction yet, but we expect it’ll be in May 2024. We’ll update this page once plans are finalized.
